The Human Development Index (HDI) is maintained by UNDP, and compares aspects of well-being unrelated to traditional measures of development, such as economic growth.

The primary factors the HDI are length of life (via life expectancy at birth), education (via mean years of schooling), and standard of living (via GNI per capita).

The HDI scaled on a range of 0 (lowest HDI) - 1 (highest HDI).

The Fragile States Index (FSI) is operated by The Fund for Peace, an influential NGO. The index is composed of 12 indicators measuring various factors such as social cohesion (group grievance, etc.), economic viability (inequality, brain drain, etc.), political sustainability (human rights, rule of law, etc.), and social fragility (presence of IDPs, etc.).

The higher a country's FSI value, the higher its level of fragility.

The Gini Index is maintained by the World Bank, comprising Gini coefficients by country, collected from national survey data. The Gini coefficient is a measure of a country’s income inequality.

In this map, a value of 100 is perfectly unequal, while a value of 0 is perfectly equal.

* This dataset is comprised of Gini scores from different years per country, thus comparison by country in a single map is not accurate. Data is thus displayed in tooltips only.
